Which AI Tools Add a SynthID Watermark?
October 15, 2026
SynthID is applied by Google to content from its own generative AI products. Here is where you’re most likely to run into it.
Images
- Gemini app: images created or edited with Gemini.
- Imagen: Google’s image model, including through Vertex AI.
- Google Photos: some AI edits, such as Magic Editor, add SynthID.
Video
- Veo: Google’s video generation model, including in Gemini and Flow.
- YouTube Shorts: videos made with built-in Veo features.
Audio and music
- Lyria: Google’s music generation model.
- NotebookLM: AI-generated audio overviews.
Text
- Gemini: text responses can carry a SynthID Text watermark.
- Open-source models: developers can add SynthID Text to their own models using Google’s open-source release.
How to check a file
Google lets you check for SynthID with its SynthID Detector, and you can ask Gemini whether an image was made with Google AI.
